Training in the Filipino art of Escrima teaches a person to use everyday objects as a weapon.
Escrima teaches the basic and logical concepts of using
weapons; focus, speed, timing, distance, power, balance and
transition, and how they can be incorporated into empty hand
fighting systems. Training begins with rattan canes before
developing into bladed and blunt-edged weapons, and within the IMAS
curriculum is integrated with our biomechanics syllabus.
